.tz is the country-specific top-level domain (ccTLD) for Tanzania . It was introduced on July 14, 1995 and is administered by the Tanzania Network Information Center . The University of Dar es Salaam is responsible for operations.

According to official information, .tz has over 20 accredited registrars , the award criteria are not publicly known. In addition to .tz, there is the second-level domain .co.tz , which is specifically aimed at companies and is viewed as an alternative to .com . For non-profit organizations there is .or.tz .

The arbitration tribunal of the World Intellectual Property Organization has been responsible for disputes over .tz domains since 2012 . The registry has officially assigned the task to WIPO.
