.er is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Eritrea . It has existed since September 24, 1996 and is administered by the Eritrea Telecommunication Services Corporation (EriTel) with headquarters in Asmara .

The registry does not offer a public website and does not accredit registrars. However, citizens and companies from Eritrea can request a domain by post, e-mail, fax or telephone.

In the first few years .er domains were only used for receiving e-mails as Eritrea did not have a direct internet connection.
