.il is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Israel . It was introduced on October 24, 1985 and is still administered by the Internet Society of Israel to this day . Israel has submitted an application for an Internationalized ccTLD . . ישראל

There are no particular restrictions on the award. In particular, no Israeli residency or branch is required to register an .il domain. However, the use of obscene or offensive words that can disrupt public order is expressly prohibited.

In total, an .il domain can be between three and 63 characters long; internationalized domain names have also been supported since January 2011 . Registrations are only carried out on the third level, the following areas exist:

Hacker attack

At the beginning of 2009 it became known that in the course of the Middle East conflict, several hackers from the Team Evil association had penetrated the systems of individual registrars and the registry from Morocco . Several domains were redirected through manipulation of the Domain Name System .
