.gi is the country-specific top-level domain (ccTLD) for Gibraltar . It has been administered by Sapphire Networks since December 5, 1995 . The company appears in public as the Gibraltar .GI Registry .

The award criteria stipulate that natural and legal persons must be based in Gibraltar in order to register a .gi address. Domains can be registered directly under .gi as well as on the second level. The following second-level domains exist :

• .com.gi and .ltd.gi for commercial companies
• .edu.gi for educational institutions
• .gov.gi for government institutions
• .mod.gi for the Ministry of Defense
• .org.gi for other organizations

Others

There are a few domains that were registered before the applicable criteria and are therefore still used by organizations abroad: For example, ajuntament.gi for the city administration of Girona. In addition to Sapphire Networks, Health Limited is also based in Gibraltar. The company has applied for the introduction of the new top-level domain .health.
