properties

When registering, companies are required to provide a VAT number , while private individuals require an ID card number. In addition to an individually freely selectable domain ending directly under .pt, a .com.pt ending is also possible.

On May 1, 2012, the responsible Portuguese authority Foundation for National Scientific Computing (FCCN) relaxed the criteria for .pt domains so that they are now available to practically everyone. Previously, this was only allowed to companies , freelancers, public or private entities, and brand owners . As a result of the liberalization, the spread of the address increased rapidly, .pt has gained in importance compared to other ccTLDs.
