properties

Overall, a .bo domain can be between three and 32 characters long, the latter value being significantly smaller than many other country-specific top-level domains. Internationalized domain names are not supported, the allocation takes - depending on the registrar - up to a week. In addition to .bo, there are numerous specialized second-level domains :

  • .com.bo for commercial companies
  • .edu.bo for educational institutions
  • .gov.bo and .gob.bo for the government
  • .mil.bo for the Bolivian military
  • .net.bo for internet service providers
  • .org.bo for non-profit organizations
  • .tv.bo for TV channels

It is not necessary to have a place of residence or a branch in Bolivia to register a domain. Nevertheless, the top-level domain is comparatively insignificant and rarely used internationally. The most expensive .bo domain ever sold was sex.bo , which changed hands in 2009.
