.mu is the country-specific top-level domain (ccTLD) for Mauritius . It was introduced on October 6, 1995 and is administered by Internet Direct , based in Port Louis .

In addition to .mu, there are various second-level domains , for example .com.mu for companies, .net.mu for Internet service providers or .org.mu for non-profit organizations . A .mu domain can be between three and 63 characters long and only contain alphanumeric characters .

Internationally .mu hardly plays a role. The most expensive address ever sold was sex.mu in 2008.
