.sj is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Spitzbergen and Jan Mayen , which are summarized in ISO 3166-2: SJ . Since the nearly uninhabited volcanic island of Jan Mayen Norwegian 's territory, and the Spitsbergen archipelago after the Svalbard Treaty is under Norwegian sovereignty, the domain will be from the well for the .no relevant domains registrar Norid manages. Like .bv , the ccTLD of Bouvet Island also administered by Norid , .sj has existed since August 1997 and is currently not used.
It was never possible to register addresses under .sj, so there are no addresses under .sj. It is therefore only possible to use the top-level domain .no (or, if applicable, the second-level domains svalbard.no and jan-mayen.no, under which your own subdomains can be registered). Norid would like to prevent this top-level domain from being commercialized like similar domains on other islands and reserve the domain for possible future use.
