.fi is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Finland . It was introduced on December 17, 1986 and is administered by the Finnish Communications Regulatory (FICORA).
A .fi domain may be between two and 63 characters long and only contain alphanumeric characters . According to the current regulations only allowed companies register a .fi domain that a branch can prove in Finland. To do this, FICORA must be shown an entry in the Finnish trade , association or cooperative register .
safety
The registry FICORA has been taking action against so-called typo domains for some time . These are viewed as misuse of the registration system and can be deleted without setting a deadline. In the course of an extensive review of problematic domains in June 2012, a complete domain registrar was excluded from the allocation. In addition, FICORA regularly warns of fraudulent offers that recommend the registration of identical .com or .net domains on their behalf .
According to a study by the security company McAfee in 2008, .fi is the most secure domain of all country-specific TLDs.
