.ht

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

.ht is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Haiti . It has existed since March 6, 1997 and is administered by the FDS / RDDH consortium based in Port-au-Prince .

history

.Ht was originally applied for and administered by the University of Southern California Department of Computer Science . It was not until January 2004 that the IANA awarded the top-level domain to FDS / RDDH, which actually began its active operation. Since May 17, 2004 domains can be registered directly below .ht as well as one of the official second-level domains such as .info.ht .

Due to the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, the use of the top-level domain was temporarily restricted. According to official information from ICANN , existing .ht domains could be reached, however, because the name servers were operated abroad and were not affected by a failure.
