.ph

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

.ph is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the Philippines . It was introduced on September 14, 1990 and is administered by the PH Domain Foundation , headquartered in Metro Manila . The registry appears publicly under the DotPH Direct brand .

history

In 2004 the government of the Philippines claimed control of the top-level domain, but was unable to assert itself against the existing registry. As a result, it was decided in 2005 that DotPH may no longer act as registry and registrar at the same time - since then the registry has been limited to the former function. According to a study by McAfee in 2008, .ph is one of the most dangerous Asian top-level domains after .cn .

In total, a .ph domain can be between three and 63 characters long and contain only alphanumeric characters . Domains that only consist of numbers are not possible.
