.sh is the country-specific top-level domain (ccTLD) of the equal sub-areas St. Helena and Tristan da Cunha of the British overseas territory St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha . It was introduced and assigned to the government on September 23, 1997 . Ascension has its own ccTLD with .ac .

properties

An .sh domain can be between three and 63 characters long and contain only alphanumeric characters ; internationalized domain names are supported. Any natural or legal person worldwide can own a .sh domain, a seat on the islands is not necessary. Despite the liberal award criteria, .sh hardly plays a role internationally, lottery.sh was the most expensive .sh domain ever traded. The domain is partly used by website operators to establish a reference to the German state of Schleswig-Holstein .
