A .dk domain can be between three and 63 characters long. Any natural or legal person is permitted to order. A domicile or a branch in Denmark is not required. However, companies are obliged to provide their sales tax identification number when registering. Compared to other ccTLDs, the registry expressly forbids the registration of domains that want to attract many visitors to other popular addresses through typing errors (see Typo Domains ). Since July 1, 2007, such domains can even be deleted without further inquiry.
In contrast to many other well-known domain extensions, there is no live registration for .dk domains. After ordering the domain, it is first set to "Reserved" status and an email with ID and PIN is sent to the tenant. The final registration can then be carried out with these login data.
meaning
Despite its free availability, .dk hardly plays a role internationally in comparison to other country-specific top-level domains. According to official information, more than one million .dk domains were registered in September 2013, but these are rarely traded on platforms such as Sedo . The most expensive known sale of a .dk domain concerned the address photobox.dk , which was last transferred in 2010.
