history

Katharinenkirche Seegeritz

The first documented form of place names dates from 1350 as Segericz or Segiricz . The Seegeritzer church is located above the village on a terminal moraine. The simple, towerless complex was connected to the von Seegeritz mansion, which was demolished in 1947. The tiny baroque bells by Bose from 1722, which are installed in the church roof and are functional today, are a reminder of this patronage. A medieval crucifix, which was made in Leipzig around 1500, is remarkable. In 2006 the church building was extensively renovated. In 1824 August Schumann mentions Seegeritz in the state, post and newspaper encyclopedia of Saxony concerning a. a .:

“[…] Located near Taucha. The official villages of Seehausen and Göbschelwitz belong to the manor ; in all against 600 inhabitants. The place has 40 houses and 200 inhabitants who own 7½ hooves . Here is a daughter church of Plausig. "

Albert Schiffner added in 1833:

"[...] Among the 36 houses. Are 14 build. With 8 ½ hooves, plus 5 to the RG. Belong; the Seehausen estate (with 4 hooves) is combined with this […]. Nothing is parish. [...] The mill is in O, the brickyard in NW. "

Until 1856, Seegeritz was part of the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon District Office in Leipzig . From 1856 the place belonged to the Taucha court office and from 1875 to the Leipzig District Administration . 1973 Seegeritz was incorporated into Merkwitz. On July 1, 1992, Merkwitz and Seegeritz were incorporated into Taucha.

The local football club has been playing its home games on the Seegeritz sports field since 1950. Before the political change, the association acted as BSG Traktor Seegeritz, currently one contests its competitions under the name "TSV 1950 Seegeritz eV". Training and home games take place in the "Poplar Arena".
