history

Gordemitz and his place name are of Sorbian origin and were first mentioned in a document in 1156 under the name Gurdunewice (Stolzendorf). Its original layout has remained unchanged to this day. The place belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Eilenburg until 1815 . Through the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna he came to Prussia and in 1816 was part of the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxonyassigned to which he belonged until 1952. With the assignment of Gordemitz in 1815, the place was now on the Prussian-Saxon border. Since then there has been a Prussian customs office in the village . The southeastern region around Taucha belonged to the Leipzig district office and had remained Saxon.

On July 1, 1950, it was incorporated into Jesewitz. In the course of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Jesewitz and its three former districts were connected to the Eilenburg district in the Leipzig district , which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 . In the last few years the place has grown considerably. To cover urgent housing needs in the community of Jesewitz, the residential area “Am Bahnhof” was designated in the Gordemitz district, which has meanwhile been built on with over 40 own homes and apartment buildings.
