About this picture

Jesewitz is a municipality in the district of North Saxony in Saxony . It belongs to the administrative association Eilenburg-West .

Geography and traffic

The community of Jesewitz is about 15 kilometers northeast of Leipzig and 5 kilometers southwest of Eilenburg . The B 107 , the B 87 and the Leipzig – Eilenburg railway line run through the community. In the west the community borders on the town of Taucha, in the east near the district Groitzsch on Eilenburg in the Mulde valley .

Noise pollution from flight operations

Furthermore, it is located in the eastern extension of the (preferably used) southern runway of the major Leipzig / Halle airport, so that the jets approaching in the Leipzig area with winds often blowing from the west in the Leipzig area at a low altitude (<2 km) over the municipality being controlled.

Jesewitz should therefore belong to the restricted settlement area in the future. In other words, due to the frequent low-altitude overflights, primarily caused by night-time cargo flight operations (around 60 cargo planes alone land and take off on average per night in Leipzig / Halle) and a planned, further increase in the number of cargo flights, it is according to more recent Measurements and calculations in Jesewitz are so loud that no new apartments, day-care centers, etc. are allowed to be built there.

Community structure

With its 15 districts, the community of Jesewitz was the largest district in the former district of Delitzsch. The districts are:

history

As can be seen from the names, the places are mostly of Slavic origin. The districts of Bötzen, Gordemitz, Gostemitz, Groitzsch, Weltewitz and Wölpern were first mentioned in a document in 1156, when the Wettin Margrave Konrad gave various villages to the monastery on the Petersberg near Halle / Saale. The Liemehna district was first mentioned in a document in 1238 as "Lumene". The place name comes from the Slavic and means something like "people at the quarry".

Jesewitz and its current districts belonged to the Electoral Saxon and Royal Saxon Office of Eilenburg until 1815 . Only Gallen belonged as an exclave in the office Eilenburg to the office Wurzen of the Stiftsamt Wurzen under electoral or royal Saxon sovereignty. As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the towns became part of Prussia and in 1816 they were assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony , to which they belonged until 1952. In the course of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Jesewitz was attached to the Eilenburg district in the Leipzig district , which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 .
