geography
Geographical location
The community Laußig is located about 11 kilometers north of Eilenburg and 6 kilometers south of Bad Düben . The Mulde flows west of the community . At the Gruna district , a ferry crosses the river to Hohenprießnitz . The east of the community borders on the Dübener Heide nature park . In the local area Laußig there is a larger lake due to the decade-long mining of sand for the nearby concrete works. The highest point in the region is the Badger Mountain.
Community structure
The municipality consists of the following districts:
history
LauWEIS was first mentioned in a document in 1283. It originated from a Slavic settlement, probably in the 6th or 7th century. The first documentary mention of the former neighboring town of Pristäblich took place around 1371 as "Prestewelig" (the name is also of Slavic origin). Due to its favorable location at a ford over the Mulde, Gruna was first mentioned in a document in 1285. Like Gruna and Pristäblich until 1815, Lausame belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Eilenburg . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the place became part of Prussia and was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony in 1816, to which it belonged until 1952.
The community has had a railway connection since 1893. In the course of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Lauässig was affiliated to the Eilenburg district in the Leipzig district , which was merged into the Delitzsch district in 1994 . On July 1, 2007, Laussig merged with Kossa to form the new municipality of Laussig, after they had previously formed the administrative association Lausig .

- Düben Heath Nature Park
- Church from 1715 and turning tower in Gruna
- Muldetal with ferry and excursion restaurants (including Heideschänke and Fährhaus Gruna )
- Late Romanesque village church from the 13th century in Laussig
- Kraeger mill: The mill was built in 1807 and was originally a windmill . In 1936 the mill technology was installed in a farm building in the adjoining three-sided courtyard and converted to diesel engine drive. The old post mill broke apart in 1943 and was then dismantled, with the exception of the still existing mill post. Between 1991 and 1993 the mill building was converted into an office building. The historical mill technology, which can be viewed on certain occasions, has been preserved. There is also a collection of historical ovens and stoves in the house.
Economy and Infrastructure
economy
There are two larger concrete factories and a company specializing in mechanical and plant engineering in Lausame.
schools
There is a primary school in Laußig. The former middle school was converted into a rural community center (LBZ).
traffic
The state road 11 from Eilenburg to Bad Duben through the community Laußig.
Lauitzt is also on the Pretzsch – Eilenburg railway (Dübener-Heide-Bahn). Local rail passenger transport (SPNV) was canceled in 1998 by the State Transport Company Saxony in the section Bad Schmiedeberg - Eilenburg Ost. The Lauziger train station and the stop in the Pristäblich district were thus without a scheduled connection. Since then, only special trains and goods traffic between Laussig and Eilenburg have taken place. In 2005, the line was leased by the Deutsche Regionalisenbahn , which at the end of 2007 was able to prevent the cancellation of the remaining regional rail transport between Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Bad Schmiedeberg by using a railcar in cooperation with the state of Saxony-Anhalt . In the summer months there has been regular continuous passenger train traffic between Eilenburg and Wittenberg since 2017, with three daily train pairs in operation on weekends and on public holidays.
In rail freight transport , the siding of Leonhard Moll Fertigteilewerk GmbH in Laußig is used on working days for the removal of prestressed concrete sleepers . Since the beginning of November 2008, freight trains have been loaded with gravel at the newly built loading station by the Laußig gravel works .
politics
On September 30, 2007, a mayoral election was carried out to determine a successor for Mayor Dieter Zebrowski ( CDU ). The freelance applicant Lothar Schneider (administrative business economist, * 1957) was elected with 71.9% of the vote. The turnout was 59.1%. In 2014 Schneider was re-elected.
Since the municipal council election on May 25, 2014 , the 14 seats of the municipal council have been distributed among the individual groups as follows:
- Free Electoral Association (FWV): 5 seats
- CDU : 3 seats
- General Electoral Association (AWV): 3 seats
- SPD : 1 seat
- LEFT : 1 seat
- Country women (Lf.): 1 seat
environment
Those interested often find training and work in agricultural, horticultural or environmentally-oriented companies in the region. The location of the municipality near the river sometimes causes flood problems , as the adjacent picture from 2013 shows. According to the Saxon water defense statute, which was changed in 2005, the municipal council is obliged to participate in the flood news and alarm service in accordance with the ordinance of the Saxon State Ministry for Environment and Agriculture.
