Village church

history

Construction of the Görschlitz Church began in 1597 at what was then the western end of the village, but according to the Eilenburg church district, the church is said to date back to 1558. This is the oldest building in the Heidedorf. The bells were cast as early as 1515 and still come from the old church building at the east end of the village. The architectural styles of the centuries are unmistakable in the church. 300 years later, a brick church tower with a clockwork was added to the west side. The current window shapes and the horseshoe gallery were added to the building around 1755 as part of the Baroque style. The neo-Gothic entrance portal was installed around 1848. The building was given today's brick church tower around 1870.

Redevelopment

In 2010, as part of the LEADER project “Regional Development Nature Park Dübener Heide”, the church renovation, estimated at € 143,000, began. The funding only covers the building envelope. The plan is to renovate the roof structure, re-roofing, grouting of the tower, renovation of the entrance portal, facade design and the renovation of the boundary walls of the property.
