Mayoress
The Dresden grammar school teacher Ines Pfundt (then CDU) took up her post as honorary mayor Trossins on August 1, 2008, after she won the mayoral election with 51.1 percent of the votes. Even for a short time in office, the local council accused her of numerous misconduct, a year later forced the mayoress to be voted out of office and publicly opposed Pfundt. Martin Machowecz, on the other hand, stated in an article in ZEIT that Pfundt was repeatedly exposed to bullying and speaks in this context of an "impenetrable family network" for newcomers. On January 24, 2010 she was voted out of office with 65 percent of the vote (voter turnout: 81 percent). Thereupon the previous 1st Deputy Mayor Tilo Süptitz took over the office on January 26th, 2010. On July 29, 2010, the Leipzig Administrative Court ruled that the reasons given by the municipal council were not sufficient and that voting out was therefore illegal. A citizens' initiative began collecting signatures for a renewed voting procedure, which took place on October 9, 2010. 70.3 percent of the residents entitled to vote (turnout: 76.7 percent) voted against Pfundt, who, however, again complained against the admissibility of the voting procedure. In the meantime, Pfundt left the CDU and is now active in the Bad Düben branch of the FDP.
In March 2011 Max-Bringfried Otto was elected the new mayor with 72.6% of the vote.
