Roitzsch is a district of the municipality Trossin in the district of North Saxony in Saxony .

location

Roitzsch lies with more than three quarters of its boundary framed by forests of the Dübener Heide north of the heather. From 1930 onwards, they were hiding places for WASAG -Elsnig in the direction of Elsnig and Vogelgesang, and they are still a restricted area today due to existing contaminated sites . The district can be reached via federal highway 183 as well as federal highway 182 .

The street group village was first mentioned in documents as Rodhewicz in 1223 . It was called Roetzsch in 1525 and Roitzsch in 1791 . The village of Torgau was officially subordinate to the district of North Saxony from 2008. The rural community owned a manor from 1696 . In 1551, 46 people settled in the village, in 1818 there were already 417, in 1950 828 and in 2012 450 people lived in the district. The property was expropriated after 1945; after the reunification , the agricultural cooperative eG Roitzsch-Trossin was founded. The district has been incorporated into Trossin since 1974.
