Mieczysław Palus

Mieczysław Palus (born August 31, 1921 in Zaczericie , † May 15, 1986 in Warsaw ) was a Polish ice hockey player and coach .

Career

Mieczysław Palus began his career as a hockey player at Pogoń Lwów , for which he was active in 1938 and 1939. He then played in 1940 and 1941 for the city neighbor Spartak Lwów . Following the Second World War , he first played for Wisła Krakau in 1946 and 1947 . He then joined KS Cracovia , with whom he won the Polish championship title for the first time in his career in the 1948/49 season. From 1950 to 1957 he was on the ice for Legia Warsaw and was also Polish champion with the team in each of the seven years.

Following his active career, Palus worked for several years as the head coach of Legia Warsaw. At the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , he looked after the Polish national team together with Władysław Wiro-Kiro .

International

For the Polish national team, Palus took part in the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz and in the 1947 World Cup. He made a total of 26 international matches for Poland, in which he scored twelve goals.
