The church in the first documentary mentioned in 1283 Laußig is the style forth three different styles: Romanesque , Gothic , Baroque and Historicism assigned. This is a plastered brick and quarry stone building with a three-sided east end. At its core, the building is a late Romanesque hall from the 13th century . In the west of the nave with a gable roof there is a retracted church tower with an almost square floor plan and a tented roof . The church underwent several alterations over the centuries, whereas the tower was not built until the end of the 19th century .

In the years 1691 and 1692 the first extensive reconstruction of the church took place. The surrounding walls were raised and the roof structure was renewed. Furthermore, a wooden church tower was built, which only existed until the middle of the 19th century and had to be demolished in 1858 after severe storm damage. Around the same time, the building underwent further renovation work, including renewing the interior and giving it a baroque design. The portal originally located on the south side was moved to the west. In addition, the windows of the church were renewed.

The interior of the church is flat. It is equipped with galleries and a pulpit altar, which was built in the late 18th century . The organ in the church was created by the Eilenburg organ builder Nicolaus Schrickel (1820–1893). It has a rounded, three-part prospectus.

The bells of the church, which it received in 1966, are more recent and are made of cast steel . Previously, the old bells had to be removed after a lightning strike that seriously damaged the tower and bells. The pews in the church were renewed in 2008.

The church in Laussig belongs to the Sprotta parish in the Protestant church district of Torgau-Delitzsch of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany . In addition to Sprotta and Laußig, the parish area also includes the churches in Battaune , Doberschütz , Gruna , Laußig, Mörtitz , Paschwitz , Pristäblich , Strelln and Wöllnau .
