Hans Pölkow

Hans Pölkow (* 1935 in Rostock ) is a German photographer .

Life

From 1954 to 1955, Hans Pölkow was an intern at the Rostock City Museum . Then he completed a traineeship with the CDU regional newspaper “ Der Demokratie ” in Rostock until 1956 . This was followed by studies in art history and theater studies in Rostock and Berlin until 1961 . During this time, Hans Pölkow was already working as a cultural journalist, art critic and photographer in Berlin. He has been working as a freelancer since graduating. He worked for print media, book publishers, museums, galleries and radio. In addition to landscapes, still lifes and nudes, Pölkow focused his work on portrait photography.

In 2002 Pölkow moved the center of his life to Sarmstorf near Güstrow .

In 2017, Hans Pölkow was awarded the main prize of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Culture Prize .
