Culture Prize of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Culture Prize of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has been awarded every year since 1994 by the Prime Minister of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

The culture award recognizes great artistic or cultural achievements by a person or a group from all areas of art and culture that are closely related to the country and people in the state.

There is a main prize and a sponsorship prize. The main prize is endowed with 10,000 euros, the sponsorship award with 5,000 euros. Each award winner should only receive this award once.

An initial selection and statement from the proposed applications is made by the cultural advisory board of the Minister for Education, Science and Culture, then the Minister for Education, Science and Culture presents the recommendation to the Prime Minister, who then decides on the award.

The culture prize of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania should not be confused with the Mecklenburg Culture Prize awarded by the Landsmannschaft Mecklenburg from 1964 to 1996 .
