Compagnie de comédie Rostock is a free theater in Rostock .

It was founded in early 1991 by Joachim Lemke , Holger Schulze , Georg Haufler , Armin Roder , Friedemann Wikarski , Lutz Wesolek , Martina Witte , Rita Barg and Monika Boysen as the first independent theater in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and on July 12, 1991 with the premiere of Aristophanes " Eirene - the Peace " opens. Martina Witte has been running the theater since 1993.

The theater is at stage 602 in the former city ​​harbor on the Warnow and plays around 200 performances a year. Regular trips take the team across the whole of Germany. In the summer months from June to August the ensemble plays in open-air performances in Rostock's monastery at the Holy Cross . It became known nationwide for its premieres specially designed for the theater, for which well-known artists such as Hans-Peter Minetti and Peter Bause were responsible. The company is one of the organizers of the Rostock cabaret prize Der Rostocker Koggenzieher .

The repertoire of the Compagnie de Comédie includes drama productions, classics, song programs, pop evenings, cabaret, children's and youth plays and readings.

The ensemble is very committed to the young audience. School theater productions find the opportunity to play theater in a professional environment and to come into contact with real theater work.

Another ten employees work in various areas of the company, some on a voluntary basis. They build the sets and props and take on the advertising and evening services. The company has been training event technicians since 2001.
