The Protestant village church Weltewitz is a core presumably late Gothic , later rebuilt several times a hall church in the district Weltewitz of Jesewitz in the district of northern Saxony . It belongs to the parish of Weltewitz in the Torgau-Delitzsch parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

History and architecture

The presumably late Gothic hall church with an uncertain construction time was extended and raised to the east in 1694. In 1909 the structure and the furnishings were restored. The building made of quarry stone and field stone masonry with a straight closed choir is illuminated inside by arched windows. The west tower is built on a transverse rectangular floor plan, drawn in in the upper part and is closed by a hipped roof. On the north side of the tower there is an annex with a barrel vault , on the south side of the hall the sacristy .

The flat-roofed interior is provided with galleries on the west and north sides, which were probably built in 1694 and changed in 1722. On the north side, the galleries are two-story; under the modern painting a setting with bay leaf garlands was proven. The sacristy is closed with a barrel vault.

Furnishing

The altarpiece is designed in Gothic-style with echoes of Art Nouveau and dates from 1909. The five-sided pulpit was created in 1694. On the east wall there are two stained glass from 1909, in which Moses and a blessing Christ are shown. Gravestones and epitaphs from the end of the 17th to the beginning of the 18th century are placed on the outer wall .

organ

The important organ with an elaborately carved prospect is a work by Johann Jakob Donati the Elder from 1722 with 11 stops on a manual and pedal , which was restored in 2008 by Alexander Schuke Potsdam Orgelbau . From the time before, only two minor cleanings and repairs have survived. The disposition is:
