history

Bötzen was first mentioned in a document in 1156 in a deed of donation from Margrave Konrad von Wettin to the Petersberg monastery near Halle / Saale. Village life was dominated by the peasantry. The place belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Eilenburg until 1815 . He came to Prussia through the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna and in 1816 was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony , to which he belonged until 1952.

In 1912, the highest level of the population was recorded with 112 inhabitants. The war memorial was consecrated after the First World War . The inscriptions on the monument are easy to read again after the thorough renovation in 2016. On July 1, 1950, it was incorporated into Jesewitz. In the course of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Jesewitz and its three former districts were connected to the Eilenburg district in the Leipzig district , which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 .

The farm GmbH is currently the last full-time farm in the village. But the part-time farmers are also gradually giving up sheep breeding.

village life

Currently about one hundred people live in the place. A large part of it is in the local association “Bötzener Tradition e. V. ”, which strengthens the village community with excursions and various activities.
