history

Pehritzsch Church

The place was first mentioned in 1160 under the name Pertzsch . The village center was laid out in a ring and is still preserved in its historical development. As was customary in the Middle Ages , the church was built on the highest elevation of the village . A special feature of the church is that the church tower is not in the west, but in the east. This suggests that the first church was built around 1200. Baroque tombstones can still be seen in the cemetery.

Until 1815 Pehritzsch belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Eilenburg . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the place became part of Prussia and was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony in 1816, to which it belonged until 1952. In 1884 the Pehritzsch volunteer fire brigade was founded. The manor house and the adjoining farm buildings were built between 1875 and 1910.

In 1933 Pehritzsch had a total of 422 inhabitants. The Pehritzsch sports community was founded in 1949. On July 1, 1950, Wöllmen became a district of Pehritzsch. In the course of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Pehritzsch and Wöllmen became part of the Eilenburg district in the Leipzig district , which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 . In 1976 the church was renovated. On March 1, 1994, Pehritzsch merged with the former communities of Gotha, Jesewitz and Liemehna to form the large community of Jesewitz on a voluntary basis. The construction of the new fire station was completed in early 2010 .
