Cradefeld is part of the Saxon city ​​of Taucha in the northern Saxony district .

Cradefeld is located about 1.5 kilometers north of the city center of Taucha. To the west of the town, the Parthe runs from south to north . To the east, the Leipzig – Eilenburg railway line touches the location in a south-north direction .

Neighboring towns of Cradefeld are Pönitz and Gordemitz in the northeast, Dewitz / Döbitz in the east, Taucha in the south, Graßdorf in the southwest and Seegeritz in the northwest.

The first recorded place name form dates from 1350 as Krodewen . August Schumann mentions in 1816 in the State, Post and Newspaper Lexicon of Saxony Cradefeld concerning a. a .:

"[...], village in the Duchy of Saxony, in the Leipzig district , previously part of the Leipzig district office and council of this city, near Taucha, on the right side of the Partha. It has 100 inhabitants with 3 magazine hooves and is officially part of the manor Graßdorf. "

Until 1856, Cradefeld was part of the electoral or royal Saxon district office of Leipzig . From 1856 the place belonged to the Taucha court office and from 1875 to the Leipzig District Administration . On January 1, 1934, Cradefeld was incorporated into Taucha.

Worth seeing

The Cradefeld estate was built at the end of the 19th century. Much older is the baroque old forester's house, which later served as an inspector's house for the estate. The building dates from the third third of the 18th century. The old sheep farm in Cradefeld has a distinctive stable and barn complex, it was built at the beginning of the 19th century. An open-plan residential building that was also built during this period probably served as a residence for a shepherd.
