Eckhard Plümacher

Eckhard Plümacher (born October 23, 1938 in Remscheid ) is a German Protestant theologian and librarian . He emerged particularly through research on the book of Acts and the apocryphal Acts of the Apostles.

Plümacher studied Protestant theology at the Universities of Bonn , Zurich and Göttingen . During his studies he already specialized in the New Testament . After graduating from the faculty in 1965, he was a research assistant in Göttingen. Here he was in 1968 when Hans Conzelmann with the work studies the relationship of the Acts of the Apostles the Hellenistic literature for Dr. theol. PhD . In the same year he went to Berlin, where after his legal clerkship and the examination for the higher service at scientific libraries in Cologne he worked in 1974 as library director of the library of the Church University of Berlin (West) . As part of the 1993 merger of the university with the theological faculty of Humboldt University , he was appointed library director of the theological faculty and headed the theology branch of the university library until he retired in 2003. On this occasion, his colleagues and students published a commemorative publication in his honor (see literature).

Plümacher is a member of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas (SNTS - the International Society for New Testament Studies), the Scientific Society for Theology and the Rudolf Bultmann Society for Hermeneutic Theology .
