Eckhard Pols (born March 14, 1962 in Lüneburg ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and since 2009 the directly elected member of the Bundestag for the Lüchow-Dannenberg - Lüneburg constituency .

Life

Eckhard Pols graduated from secondary school in 1978. From 1978 to 1981 he completed his training as a glazier and then did military service from 1982 to 1983. Pols successfully passed his examination to become a master glazier in 1986. This was followed in 1991 by the qualification as a business economist in the craft . From 1996 to 2013 he worked as a self-employed glazier with his own business.

From 1996 to 2010 he was head master of the Lüneburg-Stade Glass Guild , from 2001 to 2010 deputy district master craftsman in the district craftsmen's association Lüneburg Heath and from 2000 to 2012 a member of the church council of St. Michaelis Lüneburg.

Eckhard Pols is married and has five children.

At 16, Pols joined the Junge Union and at 18 the CDU. In the meantime he was deputy chairman of the Junge Union Lüneburg and from 2008 to 2010 deputy chairman of the CDU city association Lüneburg. He was also a member of the City Council of the Hanseatic City of Lüneburg from 2007 to 2016. Pols has been a member of the Lüneburg district council since 2016.

Pols won the direct mandate of the Lüchow-Dannenberg - Lüneburg constituency for the Bundestag in the 2009 Bundestag election with 33.3% . There he was chairman of the children's committee and a full member of the committee for family, senior citizens, women and youth .

From 2014 to 2016 he was also a member of the German Bundestag in the function of a full commission member in the commission for the storage of highly radioactive waste (disposal commission) in accordance with Section 3 of the Site Selection Act .

In the 2013 federal election , Pols won again with 39.8% as a direct candidate ahead of Hiltrud Lotze ( SPD ), who achieved 33.7%.

Pols won the direct mandate in the Lüchow-Dannenberg-Lüneburg constituency in the 2017 federal election with 33.5% of the first votes.

Pols moved as a full member to the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure of the Bundestag, where he is the rapporteur of his group for inland navigation, federal waterways and water tourism. Pols also acts as spokesman for the parliamentary group inland navigation in the Bundestag.

At the same time, Pols is a full member of the Bundestag's Committee on Building, Housing, Urban Development and Local Authorities as well as deputy chairman of the Local Policy Working Group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group.

Since October 2017, Eckhard Pols has also been chairman of the group of expellees, repatriates and German minorities of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag. He is a member of the parliamentary group's executive committee.
