Edco Swiss

In 1988 Edco Engineering SA succeeded the mechanical engineering company Dubied & Cie from Couvet in Switzerland . Dubied & Cie was founded in 1867. In 1902 the company manufactured the first automobile and bicycle parts and sold them under the name "EDCO".

As a new manufacturer, Edco started in the late 1980s to around the mid-1990s with its own component groups for mountain bikes , touring , triathlon and racing bikes . Most parts were compatible with Shimano components.

Edco had economic problems and eventually had to file for bankruptcy around the turn of the millennium . The trademark rights were taken over from the Belgian spoke manufacturer Sapim . However, Sapim wanted to concentrate on its main business, the manufacture of spokes and nipples , and in 2007 sold the brand to a Dutch company that founded edco engineering bv .

edco today

The roots of today's company edco go back to the former Swiss bicycle parts manufacturer. The “edco” brand got a new company logo in 2008: the Swiss flag in the logo refers to the origin and under the name “edco” the word “swiss cycling components” is emblazoned.

The company was founded in 2007. The company's headquarters were in 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands until 2017 . The individual parts of the hubs are still produced in Switzerland today. Edco assembles them in the Netherlands.

As of 2018, 3e oem sports AG , based in the German Seeshaupt, took over the brand and continues to operate the business. edco is known for high-quality bicycle components, essentially for high-quality components made of carbon , especially wheel sets .
