Edgar Lersch

Edgar Lersch (born October 10, 1945 in Ahrweiler ) is a German archivist and media historian .

Edgar Lersch studied history, education, Catholic theology and philosophy in Trier and Tübingen. In 1977 he received his doctorate in the history department of the University of Tübingen with a thesis on the foreign cultural policy of the Soviet Union in the 1920s. He then trained for the higher archival service. From 1979 until his retirement in 2010 he headed the historical archive of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk (since 1998 Südwestrundfunk ). In 1980 he became a board member of the study group for radio and history and in 1986 a member of the ARD's historical commission .

Edgar Lersch has been honorary professor for media history and archival studies at the University of Halle-Wittenberg since 2001 .
