Obersotzbach is a district of the municipality of Birstein in the Main-Kinzig district of Hesse .

The place is in the lower Vogelsberg, southeast of Birstein am Sotzbach .

history

Obersotzbach was first mentioned in a document in 1326, under the place name Sotsbach superiori . It was not until the 17th century that Sotzbach was divided into Obersotzbach and Untersotzbach. In 1939 the place belonged to the district of Gelnhausen and had 346 inhabitants.

On April 1, 1972 Obersotzbach was incorporated into the community of Birstein.
