Kirchbracht is a district of the municipality of Birstein in the Hessian Main-Kinzig district .

history

A document from the Fulda monastery with the mention of “Brahtaha” dates back to 750 and 802. This clearly means Kirchbracht and not Burgbracht , which also regards this as the date it was first mentioned, which is wrong.

Between 1852 and 1972 the community belonged to the Gelnhausen district .

On February 1, 1971, the previously independent communities of Birstein, Bößgesäß, Fischborn and Kirchbracht merged as part of the regional reform in Hesse to form the new community of Birstein.

Place name

The place was documented for the first time in the 9th century under the term "Brahtaha". This name is derived from the Bracht, a tributary of the Kinzig . Kirchbracht belonged to the Electorate of Hesse and became part of Prussia in 1866 .

Nikolauskirche near Kirchbracht

religion

Kirchbracht is the seat of the Protestant parish Kirchbracht- Lichenroth . In addition to Kirchbracht, the area of St. Nikolauskirche includes the places Illnhausen , Mauswinkel as well as Bösgesäß (formerly Prussian) and Böß-Gesäß (formerly Hessian). The latter circumstance points to the borderland location of the place on the left bank of the Bracht . Only a few minutes walk separate Kirchbracht from the "Hessian" Illnhausen.

Regular events

The so-called "KirchMausHausen Fest" takes place every year. Since the three districts of Kirchbracht, Mauswinkel and Illnhausen border one another, they celebrate together and present local goods (such as honey or clothes made from their own sheep's wool) as well as their home.
