The village of Burgbracht is part of the Hessian community Kefenrod in the Wetteraukreis in Hesse and is located on the small river Bracht .

history

Förstemann derives the place name from the Ahd. Word “bracha”, which originally meant the first breaking up of undeveloped land for arable farming, later the meaning changed to nhd. Fallow land .

A document from the Fulda monastery with the mention of "Brahtaha" dates from 750 and 802. This clearly means Kirchbracht and not Burgbracht. Prachta Castle was first mentioned in 1333 .

In 1334 Hermann III transferred von Lißberg , called by "Prachta," gave the Lißberg part to Burgbracht for 1,000 pounds heller to Duke Heinrich of Bavaria .

According to a wisdom of the Büdinger Forest from 1380, the farms on the Bracht belonged to the Büdinger Mark. In 1410 it says "Bracht, the Slos and the Stedtel located below it." Since 1438 the place had a council constitution with mayor, mayor and council.

Reinhard, Adolph and Henrich von, Counts of Weilnau , sold their inheritance "to our Sloße and Teyle Bracht, Burg and Tale," to Gottfried, Lord of Eppenstein , in 1430 . These included the “Luden, Dorffen, Courts, Weiden.” The purchase price was 810 guilders, “good Franckfurter Werung.” The above-mentioned distinction between castle and valley was the distinction between Burg Bracht and village.

Of the former moated castle , which was destroyed in the Mainz Stiftsfehde in 1462 , only remains of the wall are left today. At that time, the village was also "passed by."

In the district there were "small iron stores , which then led to the establishment of hammer mills , such as Burgbracht, Büdingen , Hirzenhain and Hessenbrücken-Hammer."

At the end of the Middle Ages, the courts of Reichenbach, Wolferborn and Wenings bordered Burgbracht .

Modern times

There was a school in the village before 1757. The primary school students have been attending the school in Kefenrod since 1970, and in 1964 the secondary school students had to move there.

The Evangelical Church Burgbracht was built from 1738 to 1741 as a transverse church. At that time there were only 16 "houseboats" in Burgbracht.

According to the list of emigrants ( Volga Germans ) from the Büdinger area who were recruited by Johann Fabricius between November 13, 1765 and February 18, 1766 to move to Russia, eight families from Burgbracht were among these. Their family names were Acker, Fischer, Jost, Juncker and Müller. All were Reformed Christians.

On December 31, 1971, Burgbracht was incorporated into the municipality of Kefenrod.

Constitution

In 1787 Burgbracht belonged to the Principality of Isenburg-Birstein in the Wenings office with the Wenings court. In 1816 the place fell to the Grand Duchy of Hesse with the office of Wenig, then in 1820 it came to the district of Büdingen . As a result of the revolution of 1848 , the administrative districts of the Grand Duchy of Hesse were reorganized and Burgbracht was incorporated into the administrative district of Nidda , which was dissolved again in 1852. Then the village belonged to the district of Büdingen , which merged with the district of Friedberg in 1972 to form the Wetterau district .
