Kefenrod is located in the Wetterau district on the edge of the Vogelsberg .
Neighboring communities and districts
Kefenrod borders the town of Gedern in the north, the municipality of Birstein ( Main-Kinzig-Kreis ) in the east, the municipality of Brachttal (Main-Kinzig-Kreis) in the southeast, and the town of Wächtersbach (Main-Kinzig-Kreis) in the south. , in the southwest to the city of Büdingen and in the west to the city of Ortenberg .

The municipality of Kefenrod consists of the districts Bindsachsen , Burgbracht , Helfersdorf , Hitzkirchen and Kefenrod.
history
On March 25, 1377, Kefenrod was first mentioned as Keberode . Other historical forms of the name were Kemfenrod, von (1380), and Kefenrode (1398) .. Barrows and finds, however, show that the area was already settled between 500 and 1300 AD.
In 2008 the 100th anniversary of the Kefenrod gymnastics club took place.
Incorporations
As part of the regional reform in Hesse on December 31, 1971, the previously independent communities of Bindsachsen, Burgbracht and Hitzkirchen were incorporated . On August 1, 1972, the municipality of Helfersdorf was added by state law.
