Illnhausen is a district of the municipality of Birstein in the lower Vogelsberg of the Hessian Main-Kinzig district .
history
As part of the regional reform, the village in the former Grand Duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt became one of 16 districts of the Birstein community on December 31, 1971. Illnhausen lies on the banks of the Bracht , which flows into the Kinzig near Wächtersbach .
The place is first mentioned on March 13, 1372, in a chronicle in the 15th century as the "Fief of the Illo". As one of the easternmost villages in Hessen-Darmstadt, the Illnhäuser were cross-border commuters into the Kurhessische area, which had belonged to Prussia since the middle of the 19th century . Despite administrative separation, Illnhausen was always part of the Protestant parish of Kirchbracht . The Illnhausen children also went to school in Kirchbracht.
present
The terms “World Cultural Heritage 2004” and “Village of Horses” are associated with Illnhausen's active club life and gastronomy that is considerable for the size of the place and with tourist opportunities as a starting point for rest and relaxation seeking vacationers from the Rhine-Main area .
As in all villages in Upper Hesse, so-called house names are also used in Illnhausen. These house names refer to family names, some of which were resident families or their professions, some 150 or more years ago. If the house name "Ortsdieners (ch)" or "Spielmanns" can still be easily explained, even today's residents of the houses "Bloose" or "Hannirche" find it difficult to explain the origin of their house name. Nowadays the following difficulties arise: while the Kraus family is still based in "Krause", for example, Mrs. Herchenröder, who died in 2018, did not live with Herchenröders, but "in Scheffe" - and is remembered as the "Scheffe Minna" . It gets complicated when a stranger looks for "Lissmanns Karl". He by no means lives "in Lissmanns" but "in Bloose" because the Bernhardt family lives "in Lissmanns".
The Dolle village
On March 20, 2010 Illnhausen was portrayed by Hessischer Rundfunk as " Dolles Dorf ". In a very short time, the Illnhäuser brought their home back into shape after the severe winter. The motto of the five-minute documentary was a tour of the village in a fully occupied tour bus with a local guide. The local artist, the metalworking company, the wellness temple and the "Aquarius" were presented. The Illnhäuser demonstrated their mobility in the carriage parade and in the lawn mower race. The Hessenschau broadcast on the evening of March 20 brought Illnhausen to an audience of millions.
On June 2, 2011, Illnhausen prevailed in the East Preliminary Round for the election of the Dollen Village 2011 with more than two thirds of all votes against 12 other applicants from East Hesse. In the final on June 12, 2011 at the Hessentag in Oberursel, Illnhausen came third.
