Edgar Osterberger (born May 15, 1922 in Austria , † in April or May 1995 in Vienna ) was an Austrian cameraman .

Live and act

Very little is known about Osterberger's vita. After completing his photography training, he started his career as head cameraman and photographed documentary films for German and Austrian companies, as well as educational films on behalf of the state. In 1965 he made his debut in feature films, his first film, Scourge of the Flesh , caused a sensation and was considered a “scandal film” due to its gimmicky presentation.

From then on, Osterberger worked for television and occasionally for the cinema and often photographed the work of experimental filmmakers such as Valie Export , Eddy Saller , Helmut Pfandler and Ulrike Ottinger . Almost all of these were productions that had to be produced very cheaply. Edgar Osterberger died completely forgotten in the spring of 1995, on May 9, 1995 he was buried in the Grinzing cemetery in Vienna.
