Edgar Schober

Edgar Schober (born October 31, 1926 in Kleineibenstein , a district of Gmünd in Lower Austria; † April 12, 2016 in Purgstall an der Erlauf ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and agriculture teacher. From 1974 to 1991 he was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament and from 1988 was the third president of the state parliament .

Life

Schober's family moved to Schwadorf in 1927 . He attended elementary school and grammar school and then moved to the Francisco Josephinum, where his school attendance was interrupted by military service during World War II and the subsequent prisoner of war. Schober made up his school leaving certificate in 1948 and entered the agricultural school service. In 1964 he became school inspector for agricultural vocational and technical schools and worked in this profession until 1974. From 1955 he became a local councilor in Sölling . He became vice mayor, where he continued to work after the incorporation in the new municipality of Purgstall an der Erlauf . Between 1976 and 1985, Schober took over the office of mayor of Purgstall, and within the party he also held the function of the ÖVP main district party chairman.

Schober represented the ÖVP between July 11, 1974 and July 11, 1991 in the state parliament and from February 25, 1988, until his resignation, he held the office of 3rd state parliament president. In July 1991, Hubert Auer succeeded him as the third president of the state parliament.
