The Edificio Ciudadela is a building in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo .

The building, which was erected by the company Alvaro Palenga SA in the following five years up to 1963 according to a plan from 1958, is the work of architects Raúl SICHO Bouret and Ernesto Calvo . It is located in Ciudad Vieja at Juncal 1301–1305, bordered by the streets Buenos Aires, Bacacay and the pedestrian zone of Calle Sarandí, and is adjacent to the Plaza Independencia in the southwest . In addition to apartments for residential purposes, the Edificio Ciudadela houses offices and shops. The 66-meter-high, 26-story building was built as a result of the building boom in Montevideo that followed the adoption of the Ley de Propiedad Horizontal .
