Edit Domján (born December 25, 1932 in Budapest , † December 26, 1972 there ) was a Hungarian actress .

Life

She grew up in financially modest circumstances. Her father was a factory worker and her mother came from a farming family. In 1946 the family moved to Maglód . During her school days, she successfully took part in performances and reciting competitions. After finishing secondary school with very good results, she attended the University of Theater and Film in Budapest. After graduating in 1954, she worked at the National Theater ( Szegedi Nemzeti Színház ) in Szeged until 1961 , then at the Petőfi Theater ( Petőfi Színház ) until 1963 and at the Madách Theater ( Madách Színház ) in Budapest from 1964 until the end of her life .

Domján played around 90 roles in the theater, was an actress in more than ten feature films and was involved in numerous television and radio productions. She also worked as a singer in the field of light music.

Personal

At the Academy of Theater and Film, she met the actor Flórián Kaló, with whom she was married until 1969. In December 1972, the day after her 40th birthday, she ended her life.

Appreciation

In 1965 she received the Mari Jászai Prize and in 2001 the Domján Edit utca in Óbuda was named after her.
