The Reformed Church Netstal is a cross church in the Glarus village of Netstal , Switzerland .

history

A Protestant church has existed in Netstal since 1697. The current church was built in the center of the village from 1811 to 1813 as a transverse church. Johann Jakob Haltiner or Leonhard Stüssi and Salomon Simmen are named as architects in the literature .

description

The church is a rectangle with polygonal extensions on both sides. A tower with a hooded roof adjoins the western long side . The dials of the clockwork are in lively eyelashes . The facades are characterized by high arched windows and elegant skylights as well as by signs with hoods. This design is in the late baroque tradition of the transverse churches of Wädenswil (1767) and Horgen (1782).

In contrast to the models mentioned, the galleries of the church only occupy the narrow sides, which corresponds to the scheme of the Wilchingen church (1676). In addition, the comparatively sparse stucco is already designed in classicist forms. The pulpit is clearly visible on the tower side of the ship . A Metzler organ from 1964 is located on a side gallery. The colored glass windows in the east wall were made in 1902 and 1913 by representatives of the Röttinger glass painting dynasty .
