The Edition siren was a book publisher in Berlin's Kreuzberg district , later in Trebus .

The publisher was particularly known for its bibliophile editions, which were hand-printed in lead type on the publisher's own press and are now available for e. Some of them are traded antiquarian at handsome prices. The bindings were based on classic French brochures in "grand format", in terms of style roughly comparable to the older Corti editions or the volumes of the éditions Claire Paulhan. In particular, surrealistic literature and literary curiosa were published. Edition Sirene also published some classics that were previously not available in German. The authors included Donatien Alphonse François de Sade , Lautréamont , Maximilien Robespierre , Jindřich Heisler , Robert Desnos , Joris-Karl Huysmans , Albert Giraud and Ladislaw Klima, René Char, Julien Gracq and again and again André Breton . The "Gesänge des Maldoror", an edition of Lautréamont's works, which was based on the renowned French edition of Corti, was the only title of the siren that had two editions.

Edition Sirene was founded by the publisher Wolfgang Schmidt . He also translated many of the publications from French, and his own works appeared under the pseudonym Theodor Karpowsky . Edition Sirene books were available until the early 2000s. It is not known exactly when the publisher stopped working.
