Edmond Vanden Eynde

Edmond Vanden Eynde (born February 5, 1924 in Leuven ; † January 16, 1989 ibid) was a Belgian athletics coach.

Life

Vanden Eynde was a full-time lecturer in athletics at the sports faculty of the Catholic University of Leuven since 1949, he received his doctorate in sports science and was appointed professor in 1985. But he became known as the coach of the Daring Club Leuven . The athletes he trained included a. Gaston Roelants , André Dehertoghe , Emiel Puttemans , Willy Polleunis , Erik De Beck and Ivo Van Damme as well as the Dutch world record holder Jos Hermens towards the end of his career . Van den Eynde was the co-author of 29 monographs on athletics, sports and literature, and school sports. In his training plans he favored large training volumes and driving games . He used altitude training , strength training (also as mountain running ) and electrical muscle stimulation at an early stage . He received the officer of the Order of Leopold II , the second stage of the Belgian Order of Merit. The annual international athletics festival in Leuven is named after him ( De Meeting voor Mon ).
