Edmund Kloeppel

Edmund Kloeppel (born November 23, 1871 in Koblenz , † March 2, 1926 in Leverkusen ) was a German lawyer and chemist .

Life

Kloeppel was born in Koblenz in 1871 as the son of the lawyer and later member of the Reichstag, Peter Kloeppel . He grew up in Berlin, Jena, Koblenz, Cologne and Leipzig. In 1890 he passed his Abitur at the St. Thomas School in Leipzig .

He then studied law and chemistry at the University of Leipzig and the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . He was awarded a Dr. phil. (Dissertation: About iodinated and iodinated p-toluic acids. Attempts to prepare iodinated benzenesulphonic acids ) and in 1896 in Leipzig for Dr. iur. (Dissertation: The license agreement. An investigation into patent law ). Then he worked for the paint factory Elberfeld , vorm. Friedr. Bayer & Co. in Leverkusen. In 1897 he married Else zur Strassen, sister of the zoologist Otto zur Strassen . In 1901 he received power of attorney and in 1911 he became a deputy board member of the company.

In 1912 he was awarded the title of professor. In 1918 he received the Iron Cross on a white and black ribbon. In 1921 he was awarded an honorary doctorate (Dr.-Ing.hc) from the Technical University in Breslau . In 1920 he completed his habilitation at the University of Cologne and was appointed private lecturer in intellectual property law . In 1922 he became an associate professor .
