Richard Sachse (philologist)

Richard Friedrich Sachse (born May 24, 1846 in Wachau near Leipzig , † March 23, 1924 in Leipzig) was a German high school teacher .

Life

Sachse was the son of a teacher. He attended the St. Thomas School in Leipzig from 1860 to 1866 and then studied philology a . a. with Friedrich August Eckstein , Friedrich Ritschl , Rudolf Hildebrand , Moritz Wilhelm Drobisch , Wilhelm Roscher and Georg Curtius at the University of Leipzig . In 1869 he was awarded the thesis De carmine Iliadis quod Carolus Lachmannus XVI. eat voluit to Dr. phil. PhD. A year later he passed the state examination for the higher teaching post.

From 1869 he taught as a teacher at the Thomas School. At the same time he was a substitute teacher at the Nikolaischule in 1870 . Then he was promoted to senior teacher. In 1891 he received the title of professor . From 1904 to 1917 he was vice principal of the school under Emil Jungmann . He published several works on the history of the Thomas School. He was also the author of the biographical article about Jakob Thomasius in the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie . Sachse was a first class knight of the Albrechts Order and holder of the Saxon War Merit Cross .
