Edmund Lorenz

Edmund Lorenz ( 1858 in Berlin - April 27, 1938 in Schwerin ) was a German actor .

Life

Lorenz began his acting career in Barmen in 1883, came to Potsdam in 1884, to Cologne in 1885 and made his debut on October 4, 1886 in Schwerin as "O'Kelly" in Maria Stuart . Lorenz represented in his game, as it is called in Ludwig Eisenberg's "Great Biographical Lexicon of the German Stage in the XIXth Century", great skill and excellent, effective comedy. Even his voice made people laugh. From the series of his popular performances the following should be emphasized: “Kurmärker”, “Schulinspektor” ( Flachsmann ), “Reif-Reifflingen”, “Truffaldin” ( Turandot ), “Antipholus” ( Comedy of Errors ) etc., mostly well thought-out performances.

Lorenz remained loyal to the Schwerin court theater, renamed Mecklenburgisches Landestheater after 1918, for over half a century and, most recently appointed chamber actor, only retired at the age of 70. Even after his departure, the native Berlin resident in Schwerin, where he worked for decades. Edmund Lorenz died there, around 80 years old, in the spring of 1938.

Edmund Lorenz, who appeared in the film Friedrich Schiller - The Triumph of a Genius in 1940, was a child actor.
