Edmund Nelson Carpenter

Edmund Nelson Carpenter (born June 27, 1865 in Wilkes-Barre , Pennsylvania , †  November 4, 1952 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1925 and 1927 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Life

Edmund Carpenter attended his home public schools and Wyoming Seminary in Kingston . He then worked in mining and in the manufacture of sheet metal. In 1893 he joined the Pennsylvania National Guard, where he rose to major over time. As a member of the National Guard, he also took part in the Spanish-American War of 1898 with the rank of first lieutenant . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 1918 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress .

In the 1924 congressional election , Carpenter was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the twelfth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Democrat John J. Casey on March 4, 1925 . Since he was not confirmed in 1926, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1927. After his time in the US House of Representatives, Carpenter worked again as a manufacturer of sheet metal. Politically, he no longer appeared. He died on November 4, 1952 in Philadelphia and was buried in Wilkes-Barre.
