Edmund Reim (born August 13, 1859 in Vienna ; † February 28, 1928 there ) was an Austrian composer and conductor.

life and work

Edmund Reim was a teacher by profession. As a musician he was a student of Rudolf Weinwurm and Otto Bach . Reim worked as choir master at several men's choirs, including the Vienna men's choir and later at the railway choir.

Reim composed a total of 75 musical works. His choral works with orchestral accompaniment were performed by the Vienna Men's Choir. In addition, Reim also created two operas, songs, dance pieces and orchestral works. On the occasion of the emperor's jubilee he received the 2nd prize for his Kaiser-Franz-Josephs-Hymn.

Edmund Reim lived in Vienna- Meidling , where he also died in his house at Schönbrunner Strasse 230. In 1937 the Edmund-Reim-Gasse in Vienna-Meidling was named in his honor.
